Felicitated by George Fernandes Award
'Metro Man of India' Padma Vibhushan Dr. E. Sreedharan is felicitated
by India's former Railway and Defence Minister George Fernandes Memorial National
Award this year on behalf of the Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti at a
grand ceremony held at Buntara Bhawan, Kurla, Mumbai. This ceremony was initiated
this year by the founder of Samiti T. Jayakrishna Shetty. A large number of dignitaries from all over
the country and member of Parliament Caption Brijesh Chowta, former member of
Parliament Gopal Shetty attended this programme.
Today, the importance of infrastructure development has increased, but
long years ago the support given by George Fernandes to implement projects like
Konkan Railway was very much supportive at that time. This made it possible to
work on many impossible levels of Kokan Railway, it's happiest moment today to
receive the national award of his name, said E. Sreedharan on this occasion.
Construction of Konkan Railway and metro of Delhi, Kochi, Lucknow,
Jaipur, Vijayawada, Coimbatore etc. were possible only because of the bold and
correct decisions taken at that time, today our country is dynamic and the
economy is strengthening and in this progress the contribution of Dr. E. Sreedharan
is always inspiring, said by founder of the Samiti, T. Jayakrishna Shetty on
this occasion.
Former member of Parliament Gopal Shetty expressed his thought, he said,
Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti has been working in the social sector
for many years and many social activities are being implemented on behalf of
them across the country, many people are getting inspiration from their work
and a new generation is being created, Dr. E. Sreedharan's honor is also the gratitude
expressed for such public work.
